The Difference
Into The Mountains Above Khasab
The Musandam Mountain Safari is a private 4×4 route through the peaks above Khasab, Oman. The road climbs from the coast to Khor Najd, the only bay in Musandam reachable by road, then continues up to Jebel Al Harim, the Mountain of Women and the highest point in the Musandam Peninsula at 2,087 meters above sea level.
The limestone at the summit holds marine fossils dating back 50 million years. Shells, coral, and the remains of ancient sea creatures are pressed into the rock face at this altitude. Wadi As Sayh, a Bedouin village still inhabited today, sits at 1,100 meters on a plateau between the summit and the coast.
The round trip takes three hours. Morning departure at 9:30 AM returns to Khasab by 12:30 PM. Afternoon departure at 1:30 PM returns by 4:30 PM.

Khasab Musandam Mountain Safari Itinerary
Departure and Itinerary
Morning safari departs 09:30 am from Khasab and returns 12:30 pm. Afternoon departs 1:30 pm and returns 4:30 pm. The itinerary below follows the morning schedule. Afternoon departure follows the same route and activities starting 04 hours later.
09:30 AM — Departure from Khasab
Your guide and driver collect you from your hotel or the agreed meeting point in Khasab. The 4x4 heads straight into the mountains. The coast disappears behind you within minutes.
09:45 AM — Khor Najd Viewpoint
The road climbs to a ridge above Khor Najd, the only bay in Musandam accessible by road. The inlet sits far below, surrounded by bare rock on all sides. Most groups spend around 20 minutes here for photos before moving on.
10:15 AM — Bait Al Qufl
The house of locks, built from stone and clay with a sunken floor almost two meters deep. Once used to store grains and dates, it shows how earlier generations of Omanis adapted these mountains to storage and daily life long before modern conveniences reached the region.
10:45 AM — Wadi As Sayh Bedouin Village
The route drops into Wadi As Sayh, a Bedouin village sitting on a plateau at 1,100 meters above sea level. The village is still inhabited. Goats move freely between the stone houses. The setting is unlike anything on the coast.
11:15 AM — Jebel Al Harim Summit
The 4x4 reaches the summit of Jebel Al Harim, translated as the Mountain of Women, the highest point in the Musandam Peninsula at 2,087 meters. On a clear morning the views extend across the full peninsula
11:30 AM — Fossil Viewing at the Summit
The limestone at the summit contains marine fossils dating back 50 million years. Shells, coral and sea creatures are visible in the rock face at 2,087 meters above sea level. Your guide explains how a seabed ended up at the highest point in Musandam.
12:30 PM — Return to Khasab
After the fossil viewing, the 4x4 heads back toward Khasab. The view looks totally different when you are descending. The drive drops you at your hotel or the given location in Khasab Oman.
