What is Musandam Oman?

Musandam is a peninsula at the northern tip of Arabia that belongs to Oman but is separated from the rest of the country by UAE territory, which makes it an exclave. It overlooks the Strait of Hormuz, and the limestone cliffs and deep water inlets, known locally as khors, are why it’s often called the Norway of Arabia. Every Musandam trip from Dubai goes in through one of two places.

Khasab is the capital of Musandam. Deeper fjords, Telegraph Island, and dolphins on most days. This is the side for overnight trips, and for the all inclusive Musandam tour from Dubai with door to door pickup and drop off.

Dibba sits on the east coast past Fujairah. More packed into the day, with banana boat rides, speed boats and the caves. The easier choice with young children, and the cheaper Musandam tour from Dubai, with fixed pickup points.

Getting To Musandam From Dubai

Two roads, two borders. Khasab is 199 km from Dubai, about 2 hours 30 minutes of driving through Ras Al Khaimah to the Al Dara border. Dibba is 157 km, about 1 hour 55 minutes through Fujairah to the WAM border. The crossing itself takes 30 to 45 minutes, so allow around 3 hours 15 minutes to Khasab door to door, and about 2 hours 40 minutes to Dibba.

Most of the Khasab run is highway. The coastal road that bends along the fjords only starts once you clear Al Dara, and it’s the best part of the drive, with forts and viewpoints worth stopping at along the way. Queues at both borders are longest on weekend mornings and public holidays, which is why our Musandam tours from Dubai start early. If you’re driving yourself to meet a boat, ask us what time to leave. The dhow goes on schedule whether you’ve made it or not.

Routes from Dubai to Musandam: Al Dara border to Khasab, WAM border to Dibba

📍 Where We Collect You

We run Musandam tours from Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. On the Khasab tour we come to your door. On the Dibba tour you meet us at a fixed point, and door to door pickup can be added for a fee. Pickups start around 6am either way.

💵 UAE Exit Fees Included

Every tour departing from Dubai covers your UAE exit fee, currently AED 31 per person. That applies to everyone crossing, infants included. The Oman visa is AED 50 at the border if your nationality needs one, and we confirm which applies to your passport before you book.

🚗 Driving Yourself

The car has to be registered in your name, or the registered owner travels with you. Financed or rented cars need an NOC from the lender or rental company. Oman insurance is required. Al Dara sells it at the border, WAM doesn’t, so sort that before you leave.

How Your Musandam Trip Works

Pick Your Musandam Trip

Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and group size. If you're stuck between Khasab and Dibba, tell us who's traveling and we'll tell you which one works better. If you're a larger group, say so at this stage, group rates are agreed before the deposit.

Send Documents, Pay The Deposit

We check your passport and residence or visit visa against the border you're crossing, so nothing gets turned back on the day. A 50 percent deposit confirms the booking, and the balance is payable only in cash on board in AED.

Get Meeting Point Details

The night before departure, you get your pickup time, the exact meeting point, and the phone number of the person who'll be with you. Bring your original documents. Pickups start around 6am, so plan your evening around an early start.

Why Book With Musandam Trip?

Licensed On Both Sides Of The Border

We hold a Dubai tourism license (1146424) and an Oman tour operator license (1588883). Most operators have one or the other. It means the company that picks you up in Dubai is the same company running your Musandam tour in Oman.

Every Price Is On The Site

Every Musandam tour package on this page has a fixed per person price for shared departures. Private boats and vehicles start from a published figure, with age bands and deposit terms alongside. Only large groups need a quote, and that's where group rates apply.

We Run It Or You Get Your Money Back

We own our boats, so a confirmed departure doesn't get cancelled for low numbers. The one time we do cancel is unsafe weather, and then you get a full refund within 7 working days. No rebooking fees, no argument.

A Crew Who Works These Waters

Our Khasab crew has been running these routes for years, not a season. They know which khors the dolphins move through at what time of year, and which days the wind makes open water a bad idea.

What Our Guests Say

Booked an all inclusive Dubai to Musandam day trip, would highly recommend. Great communication from start to finish, picked us up from where we were staying. Assistance provided with border crossing. Dhow boat trip was amazing, seen lots of dolphins, had a wonderful lunch and snorkelled in beautiful turquoise waters. All very reasonably priced.

Musandam Khasab Tour From Dubai

My mum, sister and I recently did an overnight tour and we had the boat all to ourselves. It felt like VIP access. The tour absolutely exceeded our expectations in every way. Our captain and guide were very hospitable, ensuring we always had food and water and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Waking up on the water the next morning was just a dream, an experience I will forever keep with me.

Overnight Dhow Cruise From Dubai

It was an excellent Musandam trip from Dubai. We had all the fun like banana boat ride, speed boat, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming etc. there was fresh grilled shrimps served with lunch on request. A guide was available throughout the trip. We could see fishes and turtles during snorkeling. There was a photographer too at an additional cost. Highly recommended this tour and the company.

Musandam Trip FAQs

Do I need an Oman visa for a Musandam tour from Dubai?

Yes, for both Khasab and Dibba. Most nationalities get it at the border for AED 50, and some have to arrange it in advance. If you entered the UAE on a visa on arrival yourself, you can still join. You get your Oman visa at the border and return on the same or a new UAE visa. Send us your nationality before you book and we’ll confirm which rule applies to you.

Originals only, photocopies don’t get stamped. For Khasab your passport needs at least 3 months validity and your Emirates ID at least 90 days. For Dibba it’s 6 months on the passport and 7 days on the Emirates ID. If you’re visiting the UAE rather than living here, bring your passport and your UAE entry visa instead. If you hold more than one passport, bring them all.

Dibba is closer, about 2 hours 40 minutes from Dubai, and the day is shorter, which is why most families pick it. Khasab is deeper into the fjords, it’s where the dolphins are, and it’s the only side with overnight cruises and mountain safaris. If it’s your first Musandam Oman tour and you’re going for the scenery, take Khasab. If you want a shorter day, take Dibba.

Day trips start at AED 190 per person for Dibba and AED 535 for Khasab, both including transport and the UAE exit fee. Two day trips are AED 850 per person self drive or AED 1,500 all inclusive from Dubai. Children aged 4 to 10 pay less and infants under 4 are free on most shared tours.

Yes. We run Musandam tours from Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. On the Khasab tour we come to your door. On the Dibba tour you meet us at a fixed point, and door to door pickup can be added for a fee. Pickups start around 6am either way.

Yes. Dibba is about 2 hours 40 minutes each way and the tour runs 10 hours in total. Khasab is about 3 hours 15 minutes each way and runs 14 hours. Both get you home the same night, which is why the day starts early.

Yes. The Dibba day cruise suits families best because the day is shorter and there’s more to do on board. For toddlers, the half day cruise from Khasab is the easier option. Everything we serve on board is halal. Tell us the ages when you book and we’ll point you at the right one.

Yes. Shared tours have a fixed per person price, so for a small group the published rate is already your rate. Once your numbers are large enough to fill a boat or a vehicle, a private charter usually works out cheaper per head than buying seats one by one, and that’s where we quote. Send your group size and dates on WhatsApp and we’ll price it both ways so you can compare.

Most days on the Khasab side. Dolphins aren’t on the Dibba route. Our crew knows which khors they move through at what time of year, but they’re wild, so nobody can promise them.

It depends on availability. October to May we run most days, and we’ve taken bookings as late as 6 or 7pm the night before departure. June to September is mostly weekends, so those fill earlier. Send us your date and we’ll tell you straight away whether it’s open.

Still Have Questions?

Best Time To Visit Musandam

Musandam has two seasons. October to May is the main one, when everything runs and the air is comfortable enough for a full day outside. June to September is the quiet half, hot and humid, and we drop to weekend departures on both sides. Snorkeling visibility holds up all year. It’s clearest in the quiet months, when fewer boats are anchoring in the same bays. If you’re picking one window and have the choice, take October to December.

October To December

The best window of the year. No wind, no rain, warm water, and every tour running, including the overnight cruises. Beach camping reopens in the first or second week of October depending on the weather.

January To February

The cold stretch, easing from late February. The water is still swimmable but the air isn’t, and nights on deck drop to around 15°C. Day cruises, weekend tours from Dubai and the safaris still run.

March To May

Calm water, warm days, everything open again, nights on deck warm enough to sleep out. Beach camping closes in the first or second week of May, the overnight cruise at month end.

June To September

Hot right through, humidity building from August, daytime often past 40°C. Weekend departures only on both sides, with the overnight cruise and beach camping closed until October.
