Diving In Musandam
Musandam’s dive sites sit inside the fjords rather than out in open water, which is why diving here works year round while exposed sites elsewhere get blown out. The boat leaves Khasab port at 09:30 and is back by 3:30, with two dives and a break on deck between them. The sites are close to the port, so the boat spends its time anchored rather than running, and the sheltered water keeps the surface calm enough that getting in and out is easy even for someone still nervous about it.
Which site you dive is decided that morning by the guide, based on current and visibility. Certified divers bring a PADI card or an equivalent license from any international body. First timers get training with the instructor before going in, and friends who don’t dive can come along and snorkel instead.

Musandam Diving Trip Itinerary
09:30 AM — Khasab Oman
Meet the dive team at the dive centre. Certification cards get checked, equipment gets fitted and sized, and the guide runs through the briefing before anyone boards. Come with swimwear on under your clothes, it saves changing on the boat. Once everyone is kitted out the boat leaves the port and heads into the fjord.
10:15 am — First Dive
The boat anchors at the first site inside the fjord. Certified divers go in with the guide and follow the reef wall down. First timers stay in shallow water with the instructor for the training session, learning to clear the mask and breathe off the regulator before going any deeper. Nobody is rushed through this part.
11:30 am — Break on Deck
Surface interval between the two dives. Tanks get swapped while everyone dries off on deck with snacks and water. This is the part of the day people underrate, sitting on a boat inside a fjord with mountain walls on both sides and nothing much happening. Non-divers can drop in and snorkel here, since the water at the surface is usually just as clear as it is down at depth.
01:00 pm — Second Dive
The guide picks the second site once the morning conditions are known. Usually a different reef wall from the first, with the choice depending on where the current is sitting and how the visibility has held up. Certified divers who were comfortable on the first dive can go deeper on this one. First timers repeat the shallower profile with the instructor, which is normally when the nerves have gone and people start actually looking around.
03:30 pm — Return To Khasab
The boat comes off the site around 2:15 and takes the fjord slowly on the way back, which is worth staying on deck for. Docking at Khasab port at 3:30. Self drive guests head straight for the border from there, and anyone booked with transport meets their vehicle at the port.

Khasab Musandam Diving Trip FAQs
Do I need a diving license?
For the AED 500 rate, yes. PADI or any equivalent license from an international body works. Send us passport and diving card copy to submit it to the coast guards at least 24 hours before departure. Original card is required on the diving day.
Can I dive if I've never dived before?
Yes. First timers pay AED 600, which covers a training session with the instructor before the first dive.
Can my friends come without diving?
Yes, AED 300 each. They stay on the boat, snorkel between dives and have the same snacks and water.
Where do you dive?
Inside the fjords around Khasab, including Khor Najd. The guide picks the site on the morning based on current and visibility, so the whole day isn’t decided in advance.
How many dives do I get?
Two, with a break on deck between them.
Is equipment included?
All of it. BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins and tanks.
Is there a minimum number of people?
Two divers to run the trip. Book solo anyway and we’ll check who else is already on that date.
Can we dive year round?
Yes. The sites sit inside the fjords rather than in open water, which keeps them diveable when exposed sites are too rough.
